Y6 Maths Quiz at Whitby High School

Year 5 Growing our fraction knowledge with the help of Numicon.

This morning in Year 5, we have been ordering fractions with mixed numerators and denominators. To help us with our converting we made use of numicon.

We also used our knowledge of multiples, which we learnt last term, to help us with our learning.

Whole School Vocabulary Focus

Y2 - Subtraction

Pupils have been learning how to use Diennes to exchange tens for ones.

Knowledge: Pupils can subtract a 2 digit number from a 2 digit number crossing the tens barrier.

Skills: to use Base 10 effectively in order to exchange the tens for ones.

Mathematics in Ancient Greece

Children in Year 4 have been exploring the work of the Ancient Greek mathematician, Euler.

Euler helped discover the 5 Platonic shapes.  The children worked in groups to test his formula of Number of Faces + Number of Vertices - Number of Edges = 2.

Y6 Applied Digital Literacy

In Year 6, the children have creating amazing powerpoint projects all about the Enigma Machine.

 

We created an interactive guide using hyperlinks and shortcut buttons.

We embedded digital content, transitions, animation, sound and images.

We learnt how to use search technologies…
