Meet our
We help make decisions about our school to make it a better place for everyone to be happy and successful.
At Brookside Primary School, every class from Reception to Year 6 has two democratically elected school council members. All children throughout the school are given the opportunity to nominate themselves and present a nomination speech to their peers. Each class then exercised their right to vote by selecting two class representatives. The two children with the most votes become our school council members.
As a council, the children are learning how to hold council meetings and share ideas whilst respecting the opinions and beliefs of others. As the children develop these skills, they will begin to take minutes and plan the implementation of their ideas.
Our school council members will always be available for children to voice their opinions and share their ideas so that we can all work together to ensure that Brookside continues to be a wonderful place for everyone.
