Y6 Online Safety.
Today's lesson was focussed on 'trust' online. We have helped the children with great tips as to how to know if we can trust the reliability of a website.
eg look out for the 'padlock' symbol. Also, the 's' on 'https' stands for 'secure'. If the website starts with just 'http' we might suspect that it isn't a trustworthy site. For example, https://www.twinkl.co.uk is a SECURE site.
We have also had a very fruitful discussion on 'brain rot'.
This is a term that has now entered the English Dictionary this year. It means:
"In Internet culture, brain rot (or brainrot) refers to any Internet content deemed to be of low quality or value, or the supposed negative psychological and cognitive effects caused by it. The term also refers to excessive use of digital media, especially short-form entertainment, which may affect cognitive health."
We had a grown up chat about managing our screen time over Christmas and discussed lots of suitable alternatives to avoid the over use of technology. Well done Y6.
